I actually have started doind a Hybrid technique with Google Reader.

* I grab any feed that looks remotely interesting
* In the reader, I use list mode and scan the titles.
* If any look interesting, I give it a quick scan and open up the actual website to read the full post

This seems to be working out great because I actually get to visit the sites and leave comments when necessary (like I did here).

It could also be that I have no life and just stay in my feed reader all day :)
